I figured we can get a better idea of this place from the air. I didn't get the sense anyone else here has the ability to do that...but I think I can. I was looking for someone to spot me from the ground, make sure I don't drop out of the sky and break my neck or something.
You seemed pretty capable, I thought I'd ask for your support.
[ or levitate, but levitation is never as exciting as flying. jason does have the hair for it...
even though it doesn't involve blood and mayhem, it sounds fun. something normal to do that doesn't involve mass murder... this will be a new one for kol. ]
I'm in. Where are you intending to float above? Hopefully not the Bonfire.
[Look, he's been literally described as a 'Blonde Superman' so he's heard most of the jokes before.]
I could back home. My powers aren't working right, not since I got here, so I wanted to take along a little back up just in case.
[Which is the first time he's really had that concern. Usually the only time he 'drops' out of the sky is if he is unconscious. But here...well his control over the winds seems weaker and while he's pretty sure he can get some lift, he's not sure how long he can maintain it. He'd rather test it now, with some back up, than found out in an emergency.
Which is usually what ends up happening to him.]
Ambrose suggested launching from the beach. It's a clear spot, easily identifiable from the air and maybe the light from the Lighthouse would even help a little with visibility. Depending what I find out could me exploring further, but mostly this is a test to see how high or far I can go and maybe see if there's anything of interest to be seen from above.
[It was certainly one of Jason's favorite abilities. Until he'd tested his limits though he wasn't going to go offering any free flights.]
Back home? Several hours and for several miles. I don't think I can manage near that long or that distance here, but that's part of what we are going to test out.
How does it feel to be up there? Dizzy? Light headed? Like everything is much sharper and clearer?
[ there's no harm in asking what it's like—if he's going to be spotting him from the ground, it's good to have an understanding of what's normal and what isn't. he can at least listen for it... a part of him wonders if it's anything like how he felt when he was a witch. ]
Only dizzy if I've recently suffered a blow to the head...which hasn't happened here recently [But happened with surprising frequency back home...he probably shouldn't mention that] Do you ride roller coasters often? That feeling when you're going to drop after the first climb? It's not exactly like that, but it's the closest comparison I can make.
[At least, that was how others had compared it. Jason hadn't really ridden a roller coaster before because he never saw how it was comparable to what he could do normally...that and it wasn't like New Rome was an amusement partk.]
[ kol isn't the biggest fan of roller coasters, simply because he's only been on them a few times a long, long, long time ago. being neutralised during most of the 1900s and then at the beck and call of niklaus meant his fun rides were very minimal. but he thinks he understands—its like how he had felt when he had magic. it's exhilarating. ]
If we do this, I can at least hear you if you feel like the experience isn't normal, even if you manage to find yourself up in the clouds. No one wants you to fall and crack your head open.
[ obviously he doesn't get it, but it could honestly be a demigod millennial thing. it's cool—he hopes it leads to a coconut tree called clarice to go along with hannibal the elephant. ]
Sky.
How good would your aim be if you threw a coconut from there?
Perhaps if you see something, you could mark the spot by throwing something obvious and easy to find. Joke or not, a coconut would've been a great marker.

Hey. Would you be interested in helping me out with something? It involves heights and hopefully might get us more information about where we are.

Already bored with the ground?
What do you need help with? If it's star gazing, I'm a little rusty on my constellations.

Always.

of course, he's looking forward to learning more about this place, too... but flying. ]
Good thinking from Ambrose. At least, if anything happens, you'll be able to see us and we'll be able to see you.
How high can you usually go? And for how long?

and am I carrying a coconut?

Sky.

swing and a miss
I can't say I've ever gotten an official time of myself...but pretty fast.
And the coconut thing was a joke...but I have good aim.
[At least in the daylight...he wasn't sure how well his aim would be with it being constantly dark.]
🏏
[ they could also put some lime in the coconut. ]
